Ralph Boncy was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He grew up appreciating a variety of musical styles (konpa, merengue, salsa, son, mariachi, bossa-nova, rock). He started his career on the radio at the age of 13 (Radio Métropole, 129 AM, the most listened to in the country).
